Looking for Horns
She still remembers a classmate,
fifty years ago, who asked
to feel her head for Jewish horns.
It was Memphis. Not surprising
for that time and that place.
If they were to meet today.
Two white haired ladies
miles from Memphis.
Would apologies be offered
for words only one
remembers?
Not likely. She’s lived
her life with a scalp
searched many times
over the years.
It’s sore
but she’s survived.
